Bruiser was adopted in August 2011 from Kentucky Lab Rescue. His front left leg was broken and healed with the bones separated. The break had occurred some time previously as the tissue was healed. When he walked or ran he was three legged with a leg that flopped up and down and essentially useless. We attempted to save his leg by having it surgically repaired with a titanium plate and resetting the bones. Rehab was conducted at The Veterinary Wellness Center, a state of the art veterinary clinic in Lexington, Ky. where you see Bruiser in the Hyperbaric chamber. This was used to try and facilitate bone growth and calcification. Unfortunately that did not occur and we had to amputate his leg. To day he is happy and his 3 legs do not slow him down. He is 9 pounds of pleasure and no one pushes him around. He is a real joy and repays me daily with his zest for life.

Welcome to my informational blog to assist your animal, during this time period of Pet Food uncertainty. I will attempt to keep you posted of on-going news worthy items. This is a serious issue that not only impacts our animals but our food chain as well. They are both interconnected with the imports of agricultural products from China.

Keep in mind the FDA has admitted that only 1.5% of Chinese food products are inspected and only 6% of those pass inspection.

On May 4, FDA officials were in China and have yet to pinpoint who is responsible FOR MIS-LABELING exported agriculture products from that country. Melamine has now been found in chickens. This is in addition to those hogs contaminated with melamine in California.

There are only a handful of Pet Food Company's that I trust. If I were you I would suspend feeding any store bought food. More and more foods are being added to the recall list. Some Pet Food Companies still refuse to come forth and admit their guilt until another animal dies!

If you must buy Pet Foods there are two I would suggest but not endorse. Precise produces the very best dog food I can find and their cat food is fair, they advised me they were eliminating all corn from their cat food but would not go on record and allow me to record anything. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul has a good cat and a good dog food I would buy. Other than those two I would not purchase any store bought foods. If you can't find these brands, call the company and tell them to send you their product. The have distributors nationwide even though your area may not carry that food. Toll Free numbers are available in my book.

Remember how serious this is, if your pet dies due to your complacency it will be too late to complain.

Keep in mind that while writing my book I phoned all the major Pet Food Companies' in the U.S. which represent hundreds of various brand names. Not one pet food company would provide a nutritionist to talk with me! That speaks volumes about their credibility. Science Diet did provide a "Dietary Consultant". He authorized a taped interview which I have. Shortly after the conversation began he identified dogs as omnivores. Then he could not define Science Diet's by-products so I had to read from the official AAFCO manual and inform him what his own products consisted of. To make a long story short, he failed miserably.

Hills produces Science Diet and some of their products have been recalled.

Have you seen the television commercials "Endorsed by Veterinarians"? Do you really think a reputable veterinarian would recommend a food that was using cheap Chinese products that are never inspected?

DON'T PURCHASE ANY PET FOOD FOODS WITH BY-PRODUCTS OR WITH CORN OR WHEAT AT THIS TIME IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL!

My "Pet Food Bible" is available via email if you reserve a book now. This valuable source of information provides you with many cost effective alternatives to these questionable pet foods killing our beloved animals.

Shortly the dates and times of my speaking engagements will be available. Check the website www.animalnutritionbook.com for more info and to order your book today postage paid.

About The Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
