Bruiser was adopted in August 2011 from Kentucky Lab Rescue. His front left leg was broken and healed with the bones separated. The break had occurred some time previously as the tissue was healed. When he walked or ran he was three legged with a leg that flopped up and down and essentially useless. We attempted to save his leg by having it surgically repaired with a titanium plate and resetting the bones. Rehab was conducted at The Veterinary Wellness Center, a state of the art veterinary clinic in Lexington, Ky. where you see Bruiser in the Hyperbaric chamber. This was used to try and facilitate bone growth and calcification. Unfortunately that did not occur and we had to amputate his leg. To day he is happy and his 3 legs do not slow him down. He is 9 pounds of pleasure and no one pushes him around. He is a real joy and repays me daily with his zest for life.

PET FOOD RECALLS CONTINUE

1172 pet foods have been recalled. The list continues to grow and you will hear not a word from the media nor the FDA. Our government bureaucracy always covers it's tracks. The world of business is placed ahead of health and well being in both human and pet food alike.

December 3, 2007- FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach states that Food Safety is in crisis and American lives are at risk. Finally the government admits what I have preached since 1997. Often deemed radical for my opinionated views although substantiated by government documentation, I am now vindicated. Statistics clearly show the systematic poisoning of Americans by the vast amount of chemicals, pesticides, herbecides and contaminated water we are subjected to.

More than 300 of these toxic chemicals were found in the umbilical cord blood of new born babies.

60% of our agriculture products now come from China. Only 1.5% is inspected at our ports. Only 6% passes inspections, the other 98.5% is in the grocery stores and our refrigerators.

Please protect your animals, feed them foods that I know are more beneficial with products from this country, the U.S.A.

There is an easy solution to avoiding the painful loss or sickness of your animal. Simply do not purchase any pet foods sold in grocery stores, Petsmart, Petco and the other discount pet food concerns until such time they improve the quality of their products. Seldom will you see premium pet foods recalled or sold in these locations.

Purchase only premium foods at speciality stores. Yes they cost more initially however they do not cost more to feed. Simply put, premium foods are more digestible and require as much as 60% less. The end result, you save money and just maybe the life of your animal.
Paco, whose picture appears below, weighs 110 pounds. He is fed 2 cups of Precise Plus and 1 cup of Janet's special recipe daily. He is a picture of health at 9 years of age and has never been sick.

This is the only Canine food I recommend at this time. I have followed the evolution of this company for 18 years. They have never had a recall of any type. Their food meets European standards which exceed those of the United States. This product is formulated, produced, manufactured and packaged, all under one roof. No out-sourcing where there is no quality control. I highly recommend Precise as the most reliable and nutritious pet foods on the market today.

One word of caution when changing brands of food. Always mix the new food with what you presently feed in small proportions and take at least a week to changeover completely. If you do not you may up-set the digestive tract of your animal.

PET FOOD CONTAMINATION CONTINUES

Melamine contamination continues, Blue Buffalo Pet Foods have been recalled.

Salmonella poisoning continues in the "Mars" Petcare plant, which has been on-going since 2006. Melamine can sicken and kill an animal but is not contagious.
Salmonella is a different story. It is contagious and can spread to humans. If your animal becomes lethargic with diarrhea then get them tested as salmonella could be the problem.

The FDA could stop all this but they won't as business concerns are prioritised by our government.By imposing a hefty fine upon company's who refuses to disclose their use of illegal products and who process food in non-approved facilities this could be prevented.
Just remember as bad as the Pet Food Industry is, they are inspected more frequently than human food!

WHY PURCHASE ANY FOODS FROM PETSMART, WALMART, OR low end GROCERY STORES?

Generally these are the cheapest, poorest quality foods to be found. Most believe they can't afford a premium food.
Read my book and you will learn it cost less
to feed a premium food than these inferior brands. I feed Paco our 110 pound dog 2 cups of Precise Plus and 1 cup of Janet's recipe(included in my book) per day. Look at your brand of dog food and the feeding instructions for 110 pounds. It will say 8-12 cups per day.

Please feed your animal responsibly, your the only one they have to rely on.You should be their best friend as well.

PRECISE PET FOODS ENDORSED BY AUTHOR

I have followed the evolution of Precise Pet Products for more than 15 years. In fact I assisted them in the early 1990's when they first formulated their pet foods. They utilized my dogs and cats while developing these products. Since that time they have up-graded both their dog and cat foods. Pro-bio tic's were added and no corn, wheat or by- products are used. These are meat based foods for carnivores, our cats and dogs. None of their ingredients have ever been purchased from China.

This company inspired me to write my first book on Animal Nutrition. Because of them I learned first hand what ingredients were necessary to produce a high quality pet food. This prompted me to read labels and understand the good from the bad. Furthermore it opened my eyes to a Pet Food Industry where profit margin often precedes the animal’s health and well-being nutritionally.

I have visited this company in their Texas location several times. Their state of the art facility is second to none and it is one of the very few companies that both produce and manufacture their products under one roof.

It costs less to feed the very best. For more info contact:

FDA CONFIRMS OUR HEALTH IS AT RISK

Every American who places their health first and foremost in their life must read this most recent-damming-revealing testimony from the FDA. Terrorism will take a back seat after learning how our U.S. Government allows it's citizens to knowingly be poisoned by imported food related products from China. This is not new, it has been on-going since the 1980's and our leaders merely look the other way. Political ties are more important than our welfare. In my opinion the U.S. Congressional leaders of this country are collectively the most corrupt witnessed in my 64 years. Obviously it begins at the very top with our president.

Remember, as bad as our Pet Food problem is, it is inspected more often than human food.

CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY

July 18 -- FDA Deputy Commissioner for International and Special Programs Murray M. Lumpkin, M.D., appeared before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation

VETERNARIANS AND PRESCRIPTION DIETS

A friend of mine called from Texas. Her veterinarian advised her that her dog would require Science Diet Prescription food for the rest of his life after removal of a kidney stone.

This is ridiculous, do not accept this. Tell the vet you plan to feed the animal a natural diet recommended by a nutritionist, refer them to me if need be. I had kidney stones 35 years ago and my diet has changed very little.
Statements in my latest book from a veterinary nutritionist and one of the most renowned vets in the world speak volumes regarding this subject.

First familiarize yourself with your vet’s credentials. Did he major in nutrition or is he just a DVM. Pull up the curriculum for a DVM at Texas A & M, Colorado State or Ohio State, three of the most recognized vet universities in the nation. You will find only one 3 hour credit course in toxicology and nutrition in 8 years of studies. My current vet graduated from Ohio State a year ago and will be the first to tell you it was not an informative and accurate depiction of what is going on today. She could not tell you the definition of one pet food ingredient.

There is only one reason a vet would prescribe a food for life, he is selling it and making a huge profit.

Many of these prescription diets are for omnivores or herbivores not CARNIVORES.
Common Sense has gone AWOL in our society!

Read the ingredients, full of corn, wheat and by-products.

Who profits the most if your animal is sick?

PET FOOD ALERT

Do not buy pet foods with wheat or corn prolducts. Many contaminated foods remain on the shelves.

If you can't locate an all meat based diet with rice, barley or other non-corn or wheat related ingredents, otherwise feed table scraps. I would not feed any prescription diets sold by veternarians as most are full of corn, wheat and by-products. Unless your vet is a nutritionist they probably don't know what the ingredients are in their products they sell. They do make a big profit on all those prescription foods.
In my latest book one of the most renown veternarians in the world talks about the missing link in veterinary medecine, nutrition!

If you love your animal as family members which we do, then feed them a nutritious and safe diet. It costs less to feed the best!

MELAMINE NOW BEING CONSUMED BY HUMANS

The Washington Post reported that melamine(that same industrial toxin that is killing pets)has been fed to sheep, goats, cattle, fish and shrimp for a long time by the Ohio company Tembec BTLSR, Inc. located in Toledo.
Naturally the FDA says these low level poisonings are not considered harmful and safe for human consumption?

(Did you know the EPA is not allowed to test carcenegenic pesticides and herbecides until there is proven harm? This is a prime example of our regulatory agencies catering first and foremost to the corporate world.

Cancer will continue to run rampant until we wake up and put a stop to this. There is no safe level of food poisoning, period! These toxins reside in our bodies indefinitely. Imagine a gang leader that can't win a fight until he has enough gang members. This is exactly what occurs with these free radicals roaming our bodies looking for help and then bang, a cancer arrives and the fight is on!

Pet Food Still Not Safe

Tainted Pet Food Still on Shelves, FDA Says

Officials urges store owners to double check for recalled Products.
www.MSNBC.com/id/18076803

MSNBC News Services

WASHINGTON - Federal officials still can’t give the all clear when it comes to the nation’s pet food supply, though they assured lawmakers they’re aggressively checking stores and suppliers.

The Food and Drug Administration said it had inspected about 400 stores nationwide and still found some dog and cat food products affected by last month’s recall by Canada-based pet food maker Menu Foods Income Fund and other manufacturers. The agency asked retailers across the country to be vigilant in removing all products associated with the pet food recall, which began on March 16.

Stephen Sundlof, director of the agency’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, told lawmakers during a hearing that thousands of government and private sector workers around the country have responded to the contamination. Yet, he told lawmakers, he could not rule out the discovery of more tainted food.

Do not believe the FDA for any reason. Documented in my book are on-going cases of Pet Food poisoning since the 1980's. Doesn't it seem odd that the FDA states that less than 50 animals have died from Melamine poisoning in 2007. In 2006 72 dogs died from alfa toxin poison in Diamond Pet Foods. The media never mentioned one word of this and now with far less deaths, according to the FDA, we have a national emergency. Who do you suppose is telling the truth, the 14,000 pet owners who have lost their pets or the FDA?

Stay tuned, in the future I will post an incident that I witnessed first hand at a rendering plant and a grocery store butcher in Colorado. This will illustrate just how in-competent and un-trustworthy our FDA and USDA are.

FDA SAYS CHICKEN, BEEF, & FISH POISONED WITH MELAMINE O.K. TO EAT

Imagine you are at dinner with the Queen of England. Food is elegantly served and the queen fills her plate with chicken, pork and fish. After all are served President Bush informs the guests that the meat served is all contaminated with a small amount of diluted Melamine poison from China, but not to worry it has been approved for human consumption by our own FDA.

Does anyone really believe this could happen, of course not. Only the general public would be foolish enough to accept the words of this in-competent agency. First they tell us they found this poison in wheat gluten. Now they tell us it was never in wheat gluten but wheat flour.

Please help me re-name the FDA. A free book for the best suggestion.

Pesicides Linked to Thyroid Deficiency in Pregnant women

An article in the Lexington Herald Leader today reported a study presented Sunday at the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies in Toronto.

Children conceived in June, July and August when pesticide spraying is at its peak scored lower on achievement tests than other kids. Dr. Paul Winchester based his findings on nearly 1.7 million students in grades 3-10 who took a standardized test in Indiana. Spraying patterns are also associated with premature birth.

Does anyone care, it seems not as the EPA, FDA, USDA just ignore this constant source of carcinogenic poisons sprayed into the air, water and food sources for humans and pets alike.Until such time as the Public wakes up, nothing will change. It appears the mindset is that we will all get cancer or some disease; it’s just the way things are.

Prevention seems a foreign word in today's society

FDA/USDA Approve Human consumption of CONTAMINATED CHICKENS

I can't believe what I just read! 30 broiler farms and eight breeder poultry farms in Indiana fed PET FOOD BY PRODUCYS CONTAMINATED WITH MELAMINE to their chickens. The birds were processed in February. FDA/USDA says they are safe for human consumption however if you get sick call 1 888 377 8900 toll free.

They go on to say that due to the fact that no humans have ever become sick before from consuming chicken contaminated with Melamine, they assume it must be safe and no recalls are planned.

This is absolutely in-comprehensible! This is being treated exactly like the Pet Food poisoning, until there are deaths, don't worry about it.
Isn't it nice to know we have these experts working to protect our health?

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL FDA/USDA WAKE UP CALL

Friday, May 4, 2007

Welcome to my informational blog to assist your animal, during this time period of Pet Food uncertainty. I will attempt to keep you posted of on-going news worthy items. This is a serious issue that not only impacts our animals but our food chain as well. They are both interconnected with the imports of agricultural products from China.

Keep in mind the FDA has admitted that only 1.5% of Chinese food products are inspected and only 6% of those pass inspection.

On May 4, FDA officials were in China and have yet to pinpoint who is responsible FOR MIS-LABELING exported agriculture products from that country. Melamine has now been found in chickens. This is in addition to those hogs contaminated with melamine in California.

There are only a handful of Pet Food Company's that I trust. If I were you I would suspend feeding any store bought food. More and more foods are being added to the recall list. Some Pet Food Companies still refuse to come forth and admit their guilt until another animal dies!

If you must buy Pet Foods there are two I would suggest but not endorse. Precise produces the very best dog food I can find and their cat food is fair, they advised me they were eliminating all corn from their cat food but would not go on record and allow me to record anything. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul has a good cat and a good dog food I would buy. Other than those two I would not purchase any store bought foods. If you can't find these brands, call the company and tell them to send you their product. The have distributors nationwide even though your area may not carry that food. Toll Free numbers are available in my book.

Remember how serious this is, if your pet dies due to your complacency it will be too late to complain.

Keep in mind that while writing my book I phoned all the major Pet Food Companies' in the U.S. which represent hundreds of various brand names. Not one pet food company would provide a nutritionist to talk with me! That speaks volumes about their credibility. Science Diet did provide a "Dietary Consultant". He authorized a taped interview which I have. Shortly after the conversation began he identified dogs as omnivores. Then he could not define Science Diet's by-products so I had to read from the official AAFCO manual and inform him what his own products consisted of. To make a long story short, he failed miserably.

Hills produces Science Diet and some of their products have been recalled.

Have you seen the television commercials "Endorsed by Veterinarians"? Do you really think a reputable veterinarian would recommend a food that was using cheap Chinese products that are never inspected?

DON'T PURCHASE ANY PET FOOD FOODS WITH BY-PRODUCTS OR WITH CORN OR WHEAT AT THIS TIME IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL!

My "Pet Food Bible" is available via email if you reserve a book now. This valuable source of information provides you with many cost effective alternatives to these questionable pet foods killing our beloved animals.

Shortly the dates and times of my speaking engagements will be available. Check the website www.animalnutritionbook.com for more info and to order your book today postage paid.
